Day 67 train wreck

This train wreck happened in Dec,
however I haven't had a chance to drive by
until today, and it still looks awful.

Click here to read Train Derailment
BNSF is suspecting foul play as the
only way the cars can come apart
is by using a tool to make them loosen
as they can't be loosened by hand

They were hauling new cars, thankfully
nobody was hurt in their passing cars, or
other train operators

All picturs are @to me, you may share them
but please don't steal them

Thankful Thursday

wow  HOW CUTE is this?  it matches the background!!!!

here we are on Thankful Thursday, no place better to be
sharing our many blessings with each other, we all have so much to
be thankful for.   IT is always so hard for me to write a few down on my list

Gilligan's Love
a nice cozy and warm home during this awful cold weather
God, giving me the ability to get my new truck
a GREAT financial rate :)
parents *mom had her 77 bday on Tusday* she doesn't look 77
The trees are starting to bud out *yayy spring is on its way*
I am scared they are gonna get frozen back, because we have
rain, sleet, snow and freezing rain coming over the next week
My big screen tv so I can watch my favorite shows better.
Friends who call out of the blue,  I know I say this alot, it is always nice
to get an unexpected phone call.
Family always calling mom n dad to make sure they are ok.
Getting to visit with my aunt and uncle today while visiting my parents
That we live in the USA *and that we still have some of our rights of our
forefathers*  I think they would not be liking the way things are now days.
People who take the hint, that you don't care if they are there, and  volunteer
to leave on their own.

Hope everybody has had a great week and it continues to be full of
many blessings

Day 66 and Wordless Wed my trip to car dealer

Monday, I go to the dealership
to get a remote programmed for my car,
the cold weather was/is so hard on me
so I needed to get it programmed anyway
so that I could use remote start and at least
the car would be toasty.

While waiting,  I made the BIG mistake
of going to the showroom and 3 hrs later
I am the proud owner of a brand new
2014 Chevy Silverado 4x4   You should see all the bells and whistles on this truck.  It has an onboard computer yes I said that...voice over the radio, my phone connects auto to it if it rings, pandora radio, xm and sirrus.  along with the
cool back up camera.   This dealership has been sending me emails for a year now telling me
I need to trade my car in.  However I did it and it is sooo nice and comfy.  Can't wait
for Gilligan to see it,   looks like a future road trip.   To my surprise and I am saying this
literally surprised they got me financed through gmac with 7% interest.  I have never in my life of driving had a brand new car.  Thank you God for giving me this beauty.

Now, this morning I get a call from the dealer scared to answer that something had not been approved so I reluctantly call them back to find out get this....2 recalls already on it I am thinking what the heck?  how can a vehicle with 3400 miles have something wrong?  well
the fuel pump and exhaust system are faulty.  Tuesday I return red to the garage :( for a loaner.
Sure is comfy driving actually it is like a car

blessings to you all

Hodgepodge Questions - Volume 160

Here are the questions for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Answer on your own blog, then hop back here tomorrow to share answers with the world wide websters. See you there!

1. It's  been said that one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day. Do you think that's true? Do you find that an easy exercise most mornings? What's something positive you told yourself today? If you missed that boat, what's something positive you could tell yourself tomorrow?
I do believe something positive in the morning can change your day.  Today I told myself to take a deep breath and that everything was going to be ok, Today had a perfect ending to a perfect day

2. There will be karaoke at the next party you attend...are you in? Or will you be faking a sore throat?
Yes, I love karaoke, as long as I do not have to drink to do it, those days are long gone

3. January 29th is National Puzzle Day...what's something you've found puzzling recently?
wondering, how people can be your friend then talk about you behind your back

4.  Jigsaw, crossword, acrostic, logic, sudoku, word search...what's your favorite kind of puzzle, and when did you last work one?
I do the crossword puzzle everyday that comes in the paper.

5. Recently a writer by the name of Amy Glass ruffled feathers with a post she wrote saying she looks down on young women with husbands and kids and she's not sorry. Among other things, she says women will be equal with men when we stop saying house work and real work are equally important. You can read the whole piece by clicking here.

What say you? Do you think men and women are equal in the 21st century? Why or why not?
I think men and women are treated more fairly than in previous decades, however
if women can stay at home and not work outside the home, then I am all in favor.

6. What's a product you've noticed in the grocery store that you'd like to try, but haven't yet?
hmmm, this is tough,  because of the so many things eaten when growing up there is not alot of things that I haven't tried.  let me think,   maybe some of the natural waters : the coconut water looks good

7. The author, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) was born this week in 1832 (January 27th).  Which character from his celebrated novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, would you most like to meet, and why? Here's a linkto a character list if you need help on this one.
The Cheshire Cat -  A perpetually grinning cat who appears and disappears at will. The Cheshire Cat displays a detached, clearheaded logic and explains Wonderland’s madness to Alice.  Cheshire cat, is funny, smiles all the time and is very clearheaded

8. Insert your own random thought here.
if you let go and let God you can have total control over any situation

Treasures from Heaven

How Ironic?   This week has been a very blessed week,  Monday I was taking the doggies
out and find a penny in the drive way,  Tuesday evening I stopped at Denny's and found
a quarter in the drive right by the car, Wed  I stopped at the local gym and found not 1
but yes 2 shiny penny's on the driveway by the car.  Thur another penny in the drive at home
Friday, I find 2 dines, and 2 pennies in the dyer.   Maybe I am going to be coming into some unexpected money?

Maybe, my guardian angel is trying to tell me I need to
slow down *and "smell the roses so to speak" and btw
my guardian angel is my grandmother.

however, I love my little treasures falling from Heaven.
I mean finding a penny randomly is unusual but finding
coins everyday is ironic.

Do you pick up money when you find it on the ground?
Do you wonder how far it has traveled to get into the spot
for you to find it?  Did it fall out of somebody's pocket perhaps
or did they leave it behind on purpose?

I ordered these cup coasters off of amazon for my car thought you all might like them.  I had to chuckle when I saw them in the car ;)

They are thirsty stones or car coaster *they prevent water from getting into your cup holders*  you can google ( I LOVE GOOGLE)  car coasters and there is many to choose from and fairly cheap too.

WOW. we really have some good role-models for our upcoming kids.  I mean really Miley? Gaga?
I think our sports stars do a pretty good job of being a role model, I just hope they realize how much of a role they do play on the younger kids.  However, the outburst at the end of Seahawks and 49ers by the seahawks player was not setting a good example!!!!

Day 61 old wash board and crying iron

I had to take my big comforters to the laundry mat to wash today,
I noticed this ole wash board.  Wow I am so glad we don't have to
do laundry the old fashioned way.
Thank the Lord for modern day washers, dryers.  However I do
like to hang my towels, sheets on the line to dry nothing seems
fresher than those smells of line drying.

I even on my counter have an old crying iron most I can tell is early
1900's now that sucker is heavy...no wonder they called them crying irons.
This thing is made out of cast iron heavy yes, I use it also when it gets cold,
put it on the burner and heat it up it stays warm for hours

Hope everybody is having a great Tuesday and that your week
continues to be full of blessings.

Do you remember ironing and washing clothes the old fashion way?

Day 60 nature

Isn't this amazing?  this was taken
on the nature trail that I visit often.

The trees all barren from leaves,
many different shapes, sizes all being
trampled for the next cycle of life to start over.

Bugs hibernate underneath the leaves, crunched leaves makes good mulch for the worms
to till the soil in the spring.   The fallen
trees in the water makes great breeding grounds
for the fish, limbs stretching out for what seems to be eternity make great places for spiders to build their webs, allows the squirrels to have a safe haven to play.

Nature is the most awesome thing in the world to photograph, as you can't argue with what
God gives us on a daily basis.

Monday Quiz #MQAM - the better late than never edition!

Welcome to Monday Quiz About Me - hosted by Acting Balanced.  We are continuing to answer questions together.

Here are FOUR QUESTIONS that everyone can answer and then you have the option to add a fifth question of your own for those who are visiting your blog to answer in the comment section, along with commenting on the four standard questions you answered! Grab the badge for your post if you like:

Here are the Questions:

1. Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day from the US!  Do you have a favorite MLK quote?
“I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over, and I've seen the Promised Land.”

2. Wayne told Heather to get the questions up early because we'd be exhausted from our trip... she didn't listen to his good advice, so MQAM is late - when was the last time you didn't listen to good advice?
I think we all do that from time to time, honestly I can't remember the last time
I didn't listen to good advice,  as I am a listener.

3. Since we talked about Movies last week, lets talk TV this week - what show or shows do you wish was still on TV that ended or was cancelled?
Older shows, Gilligans Island (I know most of the cast have all gone on now), Alice, Happy Days, I love Lucy, the Waltons....those were true tv family shows.   Today, I would have to say As The World Turns that was my favorite soap
4. What is your personal anthem or theme song?

And here is our 5th Question:

Are you more of a procrastinator or a "get-er-done" kind of person?
I am a get-er-done type person, Gilligan on the other hand is the BIGGEST
procrastinator I have ever met, but gotta love him

Now, please link up your MQAM posts below:

Schussing Through The Hodgepodge

Welcome to another edition of the Wednesday Hodgepodge! Add the link to your answers at the end of my answers, then go see what everyone else had to say.

1. Are you a force to be reckoned with? In what way?
Well, UM I have a short fuse and turn into a firecracker
as Gilligan says, I WILL GET YOU FOR THAT ONE!!!
but on a good note, I am pretty laid back and easy going,
but if somebody is hurting someone I care about you had better
beware because yes then I become A force.

2. What are two things you love about the wintertime. Or, if love feels like too strong a word, what are two things you like about winter?
Christmas for one,   I am not a BIG winter time, in fact I hate the cold weather, and I like to see the beautiful snow.

3. Pomegranate, kumquat, persimmon, kiwi, and guava are all fruits said to have health benefits, particularly during the winter months.  Do you have a favorite on the list? Are there any on the list you haven't tried?
I have tried all of the fruits on here, I like them all but KIWI is by far my favorite

4. I passed a local church yesterday and noticed they had this on their sign, "When all else fails, do the right thing." Your thoughts?
I saw this,  Parking is for members only, violators will be Baptized (good one)
But my thoughts on your sign,    doing the right thing never hurts anybody right?  maybe they
were thinking of the people who are out to do harm to others

5. Do you ski? According to one list I've seen, the top 5 ski destinations for 2014 are St. Anton Austria, Whistler Canada, Cortina Italy, Tahoe USA, and Zermatt Switzerland. Of the five listed which would you most like to visit? We can make skiing optional if that helps the non-skiers with their answer.
Unfortunately after having 2 lower back surgeries and severally breaking my ankle, that isn't even
an option for me any longer, I would love to yes   Tahoe for me

6. What's the last thing you looked for online? (besides my blog!)
I am always surfing the internet (the last thing I looked up was for a friend who bit a big part of her tongue off was looking up home remedies for tongue sores)

7. What saying, slogan, quote, or motto, have you seen lately that inspires you for the new year?
"Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength"
Corrie Ten Boom

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
Try stopping to smell the roses once in a while, and quit being in such a hurry.  You aren't getting the whole
picture if you don't slow down sometimes.
