Thankful Thursday

And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest."
Exodus 33:14

no better place to be than here on Thursday
I have so much to be thankful for as we all do

first of I am thankful that I got to see the changing of the guard
for the tomb of the unknown soldier *I was so humbled and the
feeling of somber was so near* I stood and weeped thinking
of all the things I take for granted.

my new friends in the Mary Kay business helping me get my business
up and running.

My niece finally got to come home (cant go into detail) but please
continue to pray for her as she is 6 months preg and still having
very bad cramps and pain.

mom getting better every day

Am I the only person this happens to?
was taking a pic of a pretty rose bud
and noticed the green katydid on the
other one

prioritizing the hodgepodge

Welcome to the last Hodgepodge in the merry month of May. Answer the questions
on your own blog, then add your link at the end of Joyces' post.
And be sure to leave a comment for your neighbor,
because that's how we roll round here.

1. What news story are you following right now?
the kidnapped girls from Nigeria (how sad)
and 1 that is very close to
home with some of my family members
 *please pray for them*

2. What's the last thing you wanted but didn't get?
nothing really, thankfully I am in a position that if
I want something than I go buy it

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...when did you last have a hamburger?
Other than your own kitchen or BBQ grill, where is your favorite
place to go for a hamburger? And for all you non-meat eaters out there
...when you're invited to a cookout what is one side dish you hope is on the menu?
I am not much of a red meat eater if I do eat burgers
it is from Goldies they are the best.  Potato salad on the menu
for sure.
4. How have your priorities changed over time?
before many uncontrolled events, material things were important
but now, as long as I have my health, family friends
material things are just that
5. What's a favorite memory with your grandparents?
wow, this one is tough as there are so many
My grandparents on fathers side *she died before I was born
he died when I was 7  but he taught me how to play
checkers.  My mothers parents were the ones I remember the most
probably going to their home in the summer and picking blackberries
and getting chiggars all over.
6. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being fantastic!), how good are you at multitasking? Share an example.
10 I can do numerous things at at time
talk to 4 different people online, IE fb, yahoo, skype,
while talking to 2 different people on the phone and
watching tv all at same time

7. How would you summarize your highs and lows for the month of May?
Highs for month...getting my Mary Kay kit, Mom getting
a clean bill of health,  Lows for month..wow were to begin?
Some one who is very close to me is in a heap load of trouble,
pregnant, been having severe cramping, and another person whom
I care deeply about has been MIA since last week....*not missing as
in kidnapped or nothing like that...just out of touch i guess is better
wording*

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
Being the end of May....time to start thinking about summer,
along with summer comes more alcohol.....
driving and alcohol do not mix!!! and neither do texting and
driving....
if you are going to drink do not drive, it is very dangerous
and it is the law!!!   kids and adults...Texting causes more
deaths in the world than drunk driving does... there is no
phone call or text worth your life or that of others.

Mother May I answer the Hodgeodge

Welcome to the Wednesday Hodgepodge! It feels good
to be responsible for just one post today, as opposed
to the two I was writing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
during the April A-Z Blog Challenge.  Add your link
(Hodgepodge posts only please!) at the end of my
post, and then hop over and visit some of the other participants.

Here we go-

1. Share something you appreciate (or something you appreciated as you
were growing up) about your mother.
mom was always and still is to this day, the most loving
caring woman on earth....I appreciate the fact that
mom always tried hard to make me cute little dresses, that
always matched her and my late grandmother for easter

2. A quote most commonly ascribed to Plato reads-"Necessity is the mother
of invention." When did this last play out in your experience?
having no children of my own, only fur babies,
I am having to be mommy to my 12 yr old more now than ever
she is having a hard time seeing now, and is starting to run into things
she is in no pain just going blind because of age.
Weak answer I know, but like I said, I'm no McGuyver
Some of you don't even know what that means, do you?   McGuyver was one of my Favs

3. Share one of the earliest memories you have from childhood.
at the age of 4 or 5 after completing swimming lessons (gads I
hated those) we all went to the lake, I being the big brave swimmer, hehe
stepped into a *to me* giant deep hole and thought that was it for me.
Dad, and his friend jumped to feet and both grabbed me before I went
under the water the 2nd time....I have never been scared of the water

4. When did you last 'hit the mother lode'? What was it?
Monday at work, trying to talk to one of the younger guys I
work with giving advice

family/friends now that you're all grown up?
mom always made the best fried chicken and homemade potato salad
I fix every chance I get

6. Mother May I? was at one time a popular children's game.
It required no equipment or parts to play. What was your favorite
childhood game to play where you could just turn up and play-no gear needed?
We always played cartoon freeze tag it was a riot.
when you got tagged you had to say a cartoon character

7. Which TV mom (past or present) is your favorite, and why?
I have to agree Mrs. Carol Brady was the bomb, what is not to love
about a mom who can raise 6 kids
