1 Corinthians 15: 56-57
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I hope you all have had a very blessed week, we all have so much to be thankful for, what a week we had with all of the disastrous storms all across the midwest.
Do you enjoy beautiful clouds?

365 days of pictures ~day 14~ Tribute to Memorial Day

With Memorial day approaching I felt today would be a good "tribute day"  I was asked to take some pictures of some monuments at the local cemetery, for Find A Grave.
This flag picture isn't mine only using it as it seems appropriate.

The soldier in the 2nd pic has the name of some of the fallen on the reverse side (pic3)during the Vietnam war

I think we should all thank a veteran this weekend.

the tank was dedicated in 90 by the VFW

Thank you to all of the Veteran's past, future, and present.

Blessings to you all

365 days of pictures ~day 13~ lightening

Welcome to day 12 of 365 days of pictures.  This was taken last  night 5-24-11 while down at my parents, it was pretty yucky looking for about 2 hours.

I went outside trying to catch the lightening and caught a few.

I felt so bad for my mom she was so scared because they were saying the weather was going to be quite severe with the possibilities of huge twisters,  living in Tornado alley I have learned to respect them.  I told mom its only a thunderstorm, then the sirens start going off, but it was only a warning that they had spotted a twister.  I stood on the porch until the wind got to where the trees were bending like a rubber stick.  We had 70 mph wind and rain was like somebody had a hose on.  I stay there thru the storm, then I head home as my dogs and poor kitty are here all alone,  coming home I was fighting water standing in the road, and trying to avoid the limbs that were down everywhere.  The closer I get to home the more concerned I was getting as the limbs were getting bigger and the water getting deeper.  No damage at home, but boy kitty sure was glad to see mommy, and the dogs were like ahhh mommies home she is safe too!!!  The creek below the house was major flooded!!! thank God I didn't have to go that way.

Do you enjoy a good ole fashion thunderstorm?  Are you fascinated by the lightening?

365 days of pictures ~day 12~ Cacti Blooms

Welcome to Day 11 of 365 picture a day
Today my cacti garden is almost in full bloom (that is the bottom picture) there is about 100 waiting to bloom out.
<<<<<this pic I took and a green fly flew in just as I snapped the pic.  I love taking macro pics, especially when bugs get on the subject you are shooting.

Maybe one day the yucca plant will bloom, now that would have been beautiful for the yucca *which blooms white* the yellow ones from S. TX, the others are native prickly pairs, their bloom is purple.

Please Lord let them all bloom together, maybe next time.

Do you enjoy the flowers of nature?

Hebrews 12: 1-2
12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.  2  Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated
at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hope you all have a blessed Tuesday, I am getting ready to head to mom n dads again soon, as we have major storms coming in again

Meet me on Monday

Meet Me On MondayMeet Me On Monday!!
Welcome to the 2nd edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"

Blogging  is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read  and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is  this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want  to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great  way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you  questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we  can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

Java will add a linky so we can follow who participates and get to know them  better!!  Be sure to link the POST and not just your whole blog!!

Questions:

1.  What is your favorite bagel flavor?
2.  If you had an extra $100 right now, what would you spend it on?
3.  What is the last thing that you felt guilt about doing?
4.  Soft serve ice cream or hand dipped?
5.  Are you allergic to anything?

My Answers!

1.  What is your favorite bagel flavor?
I love plain bagels with cream cheese (put the bagel in the microwave for about 10 sec so it gets warm then the cream cheese melts)

2.  If you had an extra $100 right now, what would you spend it on?
Gas

3.  What is the last thing that you felt guilty about?
Yesterday on my birthday I ate way too much German Chocolate cake, (I know its my day and I can splurge) but boy did my tummy tell me about it later.

4.  Soft serve ice cream or hand dipped?
hand dipped pistachio almond is my favorite.

5.  Are you allergic to anything?

I am allergic to codeine and sulfa both.  I am also allergic to medical tape but couldn't find the sign.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Time to link up and meet!!

PLEASE either put the Meet Me On Monday button in your post or link  your post back to me.  I have found several people just posting the  questions and answers in their post and no one knows that they actually  belong to a meme and linky!

365 days of pictures ~day 8~ tree taken down by twister

Welcome to day 8 of picture a day.
This tree was ripped out of the ground a year ago the 13th of this month.  What is weird, it hit at 5am I was snoozing really good and all the sudden I thought somebody was trying to break into the house so sitting up in bed, I jumped to my feet, grabbed my robe went to the kitchen to look out as I have aluminum foil over the window to keep out the west sun.  I get to the kitchen I am like trees are down everywhere.  My neighbor's light comes on so I call him to ask what just happened?  To my surprise it was a tornado wow!!! I almost slept through that?  I could tell trees were down by the light of the porch light, (it was 5am) still dark outside.  It was here and done with before I even knew what hit me WOW I could have met my maker this am and not even known what happened.  Good thing I always pray before I go to bed.   The roaring train sound was one of the most horrible sounds you can ever imagine, the howling like a wild animal (gives me goose bumps remembering those horrid sounds)  Daylight comes, and then  I can see not only 1 tree is down but there is 3 across the driveway how am I ever gonna get out to go to work?  The neighbor is outside and thankfully I drove an suv and could maneuver over the ditch pretty well.  Off to work I go, my neighbors see my car and stop in and say wow your ok I thought everybody down by you were goners.  Now up till late in the afternoon the weather men kept saying flat line winds...NO way in HECK did straight or flat line winds take this tree (that was so big 4 people couldn't put there arms around it) and twist it like a broken rubberband.  I posted on my tweeter no it wasn't flat or straight line, it was a tornado, that they needed to come and ck out the actual damage. About 2 hours later my dad said they finally classified it as as F2 twister.   Living in tornado alley can be pretty scary, but for the most part it is really one of the neatest places to live.  I have been in 2 twisters, and close to the 3rd.  They are very scary and all I know the first one I was in was an F3 and it is by the grace of God I am still here telling about that one, there was no place for shelter, so we had to provide our own shelter to say. cover the head, and hit the floor...so glad for those practice drills while in school.

Have you ever been through a tornado?  Did you hear the hollowing? or the train sound?

got woke up this morning by very dangerous lightening/thunder and almost 2" of rain in about an hour period.  flash flooding everywhere, thankfully I live on a hill top
I had such a beautiful surprise today when I came in from mowing.  This cacti only blooms every 3-7 years.  I brought this one home from South TX when I lived there, the native (prickly pair) bloom purple and I think they are going to bloom also.

This is such a blessing they have such a sweet smell, the hummingbirds are looking for any kind of flower right now (although I have 2 feeders) I wish I could have caught the red-throated hummer on here but I guess he/she is camera shy :)

Do you enjoy cacti? Do they bloom?

Thankful Thursday

Today I am linking up with Tara at http://www.undeservingrace.com/
this hop has been such a wonderful blessing to me in the past as we get to reflect back on the past week on things we are thankful for.

 3.  Spending time with family
 4.  Spent some time with girlfriends from high school last night
 5.  Internet so that I can keep up my blogging

10.  The little baby birds I got to save on Monday but didn't make it they were such an awesome blessing  and a hard lesson in life.
11.  The freedom (we all know that freedom wasn't free)that we have in the US vs other countries they have  no freedom at all
12.  Veterans both present and future
13.  The natural beauty of God everywhere
14.  The roof over my head
15.  Last but not least My cell phone ( OK I can't live without it, and I can blog from it) I am thankful for it when it co-operates with me.

Luke 12:29-31
29) And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried.
30) For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31) Instead, seek his kingdom, and those things will be added to you.

365 days of Pictures ~Day 6~ baby robins

welcome to day 6 of my pictures
these little guys fell out of the nest, because of an old tree that had died and had to come down.

I found them 8 hours later they were cold and hungry, I wrap them in a towel put them in a basket, and off I go to find some earthworms  I found only 3 so I patiently wait for them to open their little mouths so I can put these cut up worms down their throat.  OK all fed now its nap time then I notice cold again, so I put a wash cloth in the microwave to heat it up so to get these babies back warm, nap time oh wait....now where hungry again so feed cut up worms again now its nap time.  *you get the picture*
after going to bed at 2am so I could keep them fed and warm, upon waking the next morning *Tuesday* they are alive and very hungry, but wait they are peeping, and bouncing around, so off I go to find more worms, are you kidding no bait stores in town, so I get meal worms ok they are small and I don't have to cut them up, they both ate 3 apiece then nap time, then time to warm up again,   then 20 mins later its time for food again...my dad called me mama bird :)  last night around 11pm the one on the top (at first he was the stronger one and the bottom was the weaker one)  he took a really bad turn and was gasping for air,  I heated them up again and said a prayer for them to make it one more day.  The weaker was bouncing wanting food again :) so I fed that one but the other was not responding to food.  after feeding I put it back in the basket and to sleep it went.  This morning when I woke up (anxious to go see my new found babies) much disappointment they had both died during the night.  After, holding the tears away I went and buried them under the clay pot man, thats appropriate right?  trying to keep these babies alive, I figured they may have been traumatically injured when they fell.    The joy of this experience was such a blessing,  nobody else would have had that much patience trying to keep them alive.  the support knowing that I did everything possible and beyond to save these little miracles.

Would you help baby birds if you found them?  or any other baby animal in need?
