365 days of pictures day 107 First working oil well in OK

On my ventures today looking for the flea market, I found the 1st commercial oil well in OK  some of it is from the original wood.  It is in Bartlesville OK much of town was built by Frank Phillips (phillips 66 )  Mr Phillips gave back to the community as the community helped him out during the beginning.
If interested in a big oil entrepreneur you can google Frank & Jane Phillips she died in 1948 or 49 and he the following year.

The 2nd photo shows when the well was built and finished.  Today it is a museum type you can walk up to it and see some of the original wood work.

The 3rd picture is the old steam engine that mad the well work properly beside the engine is a tank that I think held the coal to make the engine work.

The 4th picture is actually an old war canon that the oil well workers used to shoot holes in the oil tanks (that holds the oil) if they saw it boiling over the top instead of letting it blow up they would shoot the canon balls into it so it could relieve pressure.  Isn't it amazing how things worked long before electricity?

Bob and I are doing fine and each day he is getting better wow it is hard to believe this past weekend was 5 weeks since the whole seizure and falling episode.

Hope everybody has a great week

Blessings
Rainbow
