Tuesday 4: Moving

Moving

Welcome to Tuesday 4 kept up in memory of our friend Toni Taddeo who began it several                                   years ago.  She would be so pleased to see people keeping up with it!

Let's talk about moving today.

1. How far away are you from where you grew up?                                                                                                  A.  approximately 100 miles and dislike it

2. Families sometimes move all over the country.  Do you feel that a family should try to stay                               close  together? A.  I think it would be nice if families could stay closer, but understand                                that jobs and  different situations take us away from the nest so to say

3. How many times have you moved in your life and would you like to share when and where                        you moved?   A.  I have moved way too many times first move was only 7 miles from where                           I grew up  then husband got a better paying job we moved 100 miles away (Shawnee OK)                        in 01 his job took  us to San Antonio TX (This was really cool for a small town girl)                                   03 Corpus Christi TX, 04 back to OK,  07 back to 6 miles from where I grew up,                                      2012 Anaheim CA, this was bizarre 2013 back to OK ,  divorced him (long story)                                        Married Gator we moved to current location in 2019 Galena KS

4. What brought you to where you are living now and are you happy there?                                                            A for the most part  we are happy here, just wishing it was a little nicer                                                          (its run down)  our home in OK went up for sale, after moving up here it was                                                better because Gator got the best care  possible for fighting cancer.

I hate being 100 miles from my 83 yr old mom because I can't just get in the car and                                     go like I did when it was only up to 10 miles away.

Thanks for joining in!!

  1. Oh, I didn't realize you were so far away from your Mom. I know that must be difficult for you, but you are with your hubby and that is what is most important. It's wonderful when we can have our family nearby too, but it isn't always possible so we have to make the best of whatever situation we have, which I know you are doing. I pray that God will continue to take care of you and your hubby, and that you will be able to visit with your mother as often as possible. God bless you Gina.

    1. Yes ma'am. It is hard, but being with hubby is the important like you said. I feel bad for not getting to see mom, but feel like I can't leave Gator that long by self. I get to go up 1x a month on a day I know he is feeling safe to be alone

  2. I was just in Anaheim last week to get my Covid vaccine. We went to Downtown Disney afterwards. It would be hard to be far from my parents. I would drive 45 miles to see mine before they passed away. I hope Gator is well now.

    1. OHHH I loved Downtown Disney, such a quaint little area. The travel isn't the issue, Gator has terminal cancer, and I feel like he can't be alone for me to go see mom. I get to go 1 x a month and that is providing Gator is feeling ok for me to be gone

  3. I would love to say I want to stay close to family, but in hindsight there are so many hurtful things that at times I wish I was farther away. Happy Tuesday!

  4. It's hard when our parents are aging and we can't be near. I'm thankful I was blessed to stay nearby.

  5. It really is. Its not the traveling, its that my husband has terminal cancer so I feel scared to leave him alone long enough for me traveling. I go 1x a month providing Gator is feeling well enough that I feel safe leaving him

  6. My family...cousins and Aunts and Uncles live in Oklahoma. My mom, dad and I are the only ones that lived in Missouri. My dad got a teaching job here and they were here ever since. I have always lived here. We visit Muskogee...that is where my parents are from, but everyone has died, so we rarely visit anymore. My cousins all live in Tulsa. My mom lives in the town I teach in, so I go see her every Friday right after work. Is your mom in Oklahoma? Loved your answers. Have a nice week.

  7. So sorry to hear about your hubby, certainly understandable that you don't want to leave him alone at this point in time. I can understand it's hard not being close to you MoM right now. God knows what you're going through and He is there for you. Sending prayers your way.

    1. Thank you very much. Sometimes, it is too much because they both need me, mom is disabled and can't do too much on her own. On the other hand, Gator needs me more, so I go and visit mom when Gator feels ok, and I know its safe to leave him alone. Thank you for the prayers

  8. Thank you for visiting my blog. My wish to move from Florida to TN was delayed when I was caring for my mother. I couldn't have moved far from her. Prayers for you and Gator.

  9. I live close to my siblings but that's more to do with the way things worked out rather than a conscious decision to live near each other. I feel for you being so far from your mum.

  10. Thank you! I live about the same distance to my brother and his family. I regret that my nieces and great nieces and nephews are so far away. I hope you have a great day
